Current Project
One in four Cambodian women suffers domestic violence at the hands of their husbands, including physical, sexual, verbal and emotional abuse.

CAMBOW is conducting a campaign to raise awareness of this tragic statistic and to help victims escape from the vicious circle of suffering and silence created by domestic violence. It also seeks to change the cultural belief that domestic violence is a "private family problem", which often results in reluctance from the authorities to interfere.

Violence against women, including domestic violence, trafficking and rape, is a serious problem in Cambodian soeciety. A sustained advocacy campaign is required to raise awareness of this violence and reduce its prevalence.

CAMBOW is a non-partisan network of Cambodian Non-Governmental Organizations that focus primarily on advancing the cause of women. It was formally organized on May 8, 2000 and currently has 36 members. CAMBOW works to promote the respect for, and protect, women's rights through eduction, training, research, documentation and advocacy.

CAMBOW supports and assists the efforts of national, regional and international working networks, which work on issues of rape, domestic violence and trafficking in people, especially trafficking in women and children.
